Goose and Duck Hunting

We specialize in 1-day goose and duck hunts for travelers and businessmen who want the hunt of a lifetime in the middle of a business trip or a family vacation! Stay in downtown Calgary Alberta for a conference or to conduct meetings, and take a day for yourself and unwind with a limit of birds. Bring some clients or coworkers to build relationships without having to take a week off work and spend the time and money traveling to remote destinations, when Calgary is home to tens of thousands of ducks and geese through the entire fall and winter!

Are you on vacation with your family? Can't take four days by yourself for a hunt, then come with us for a 1-day hunt while the family shops or plays on the waterslides at your hotel.

Calgary and area is home to some of the best Goose and Duck Hunting in Alberta, Canada, and the World! Our season goes from the beginning of September until the end of December. When the geese have migrated south out of the northern parts of Alberta due to cold weather, they come, hold, and often overwinter in Calgary Alberta. The fact that warm Chinook winds melt the snow in the grain and pea fields around Calgary, coupled with the fact that the Bow River remains open and unfrozen due to heat from the city, provides a perfect resting and refueling destination for birds heading south. Many of these birds like it here so much, that tens of thousands of them stay all winter due to the abundance of exposed food, warm Chinook winds, and the city with the most sunny days in North America. There are lots of birds on the river and many bodies of water in and around Calgary, and there is very little hunting pressure. Limiting out on big Alberta honkers in mid December in less than an hour is very common. Our best hunting is in the months of November and December!

At Massig’s Migrators we pride ourselves on giving you a trip of a lifetime. We can hunt over 75 quarter sections and have access to a variety of ponds. We have professional guides and use only the best equipment including only Dave Smith and Taylor Decoys, and heated Final Approach blinds.

We offer a variety of 1, 3, and 6 day hunts, and offer corporate team building events and can cater to large groups. We also have many options in conjunction with fly fishing including the "have your cake and eat it too" Cast and Blast!

It’s a crisp, dark, Alberta morning. You can hear the stubble crack underfoot as you walk toward your blind from placing your last decoy. You hear a whistling fly by overhead as light just starts to appear from the east. The ducks are already flying, the geese will be soon. You pull your calls from inside your coat and give a couple of practice honks. You and your buddies get in your blinds and glance up as the snow capped mountains begin to light up. You can see your entire spread and the rest of the field, everything looks natural. You’ve been anticipating this trip for months, it’s about to begin. You smile at your buddies and remind everyone that you’ll be calling the shot today. Lock and Load… You stop in mid sentence. Everyone perks up a bit as they know you’ve heard the first flock of giant honkers lift off the water. You and your guide give a couple loud greeting calls, a few casual clucks, the birds have already committed. They’re coming closer, some tumble to loose altitude, others talk to you, you reassure them they are coming to the right field. They circle once to take a look; nobody moves. All the preparation and practice has paid off; they swing around and slowly glide down closer and closer to the stubble, right into the hole - feet first… Its time… Take ‘Em!

Whether it's field hunting Giant Canada Honkers, jump shooting Ducks, or floating the world famous Bow River for a Cast and Blast; Massig's Migrators has an Alberta Adventure for you.
